Audiophile USB Win 7 driver issue

I have an odd problem with a USB soundcard (M-Audio Audiophile USB) in Windows 7.

Basically, I have to go into the Sound Control Panel and test the device (which works fine) before I can actually use it in an application. And by that I mean every single time I turn on the PC.

If I try and play something in WMP for instance without doing this step, I'll get a C00D11B1 error.

Nothing on the M-Audio site or forum about this.

Weird isn't it?

Seems to to a general DRM / Activex problem rather than confined to M-Audio
