I am trying to get an old Fujitsu Siemens PC to work. It is running windows XP. It was slow but worked well up until recently. Now when it starts up I get an error message saying "csrss.exe encountered an error and needed to close."

There is also sometimes an svchost.exe - application error saying the memory could not be read.

I have tried running antivirus software and a fujitsu product recovery cd rom and even formatting the hard drive - there is nothing on it I need to keep - but the machine restarts itself so often and works so slowly that it is impossible to get anywhere.

Can anyone help?

csrss.exe is a Windows file. If you are still getting these errors after formatting and reinstalling Windows, then there must be a fault with the hardware. You don't mention the exact error, so it is difficult to tell exactly what the cause might be, but I would guess that it is probably a fault with the memory modules.
