In looking through the index to the HELP facility on my W98 pc I came across “Compression Agent” and this description. “You can use Compression Agent to compress selected files using the settings you specify. With Compression Agent, you can save disk space by compressing files, or improve performance by changing the level of compression on your files. …”

I never heard of compression agent before and wonder whether it is worth doing.

FWIW, my C:drive is 13GB with 2GB free and it is uncompressed. What am I likely to gain using Compression Agent? What are the risks in using it?

Thanks.

Cpmpressing the drive will give you a few extra Gb but the tradeoff is performance. I wouldn't compress a drive unless I had completely run out of space and could not remove anything.
