Upon boot I receive error message: ‘Hard Drive not found-Press F-1 to continue-Press F-2 for setup.”
Upon looking at the BIOS I do not see a hard drive shown in the boot sequence-only a Floppy or CDROM.
Machine had been idle for a couple weeks, unplugged, so thought perhaps the cmos battery was low. Checked it and found it to be at 2.99v so allowed it to remain out of machine for an hour, then replaced it. This time booting up produced error message that settings were not correct (Most likely the date and time I thought) so went in and set them and found all 3 boot choices being shown, including the hard drive. Re-booted and all went well. Ran machine successfully for an hour or so and shutdown for the night. This time I did not turn off the power from the surge protector. Turned machine back on the next day, and found the same problem..”no hard drive found”. And it was again missing in the boot sequence choices. Am wondering if I have a defective battery and should replace it even though it checks ok, or if perhaps something else is causing this problem? Would appreciate any help or suggestions . Many Thanks To All! Richard _________________ Many Thanks to all: |

Sounds more like a loose connection to me. Make sure the hard drive data and power cables are firmly connected. _________________ "Microsoft programs are generally bug-free.
