Well my computer is running on Windows Xp home edition. The other day it was working fine. it wasnt going slow or anything. after using it i shut it off and yesterday i tried turning it on. when i did it wouldnt even pass the boot. it stays at this black page. after that i un plugged the computer from the back, plugged it back in and after that i tried booting it back up. After that it took me to the screen where it gives you the different options on how to boot it up. Safe Mode. Safe mode with networking and all that. well i tried each and everyone of those options but all that happens is that the computer restarts and goes back to the page with all the options on how to start the computer. I really need help.

Hi TwitchE, welcome to the forums! Smile

I would try running a system restore from the recovery console, if that doesn't work try reinstalling Windows over the top of the current installation.

Back up your files first though. Everything in documents and settings will be lost.

in retrospect sounds more like a corrupt hard drive
booting to a recovery console and running chkdsk /r would have been a better initial option
