Have you tried SMPlayer? It works well with most anything.

What happens when you try to play DVDs in Media Player?

When i try to play a DVD in media player the following happens,
I receive a prompt saying "Windows Media cannot play this DVD because it is not possible to turn on analog copy protection to the output display. Try installing and update driver for your video card"

I don't know where to update my video card, and when i first baught my PC the DVD player worked fine.

I take it that your video card has a TV output or some similar analogue output. I have seen this problem in the past with a NVidia card. Basically Media player has a copy protection feature that disables the Analogue output when playing DVD's to prevent them from being copied. I suspect that your video card was running on a Microsoft driver rather than the manufacturers driver and got updated by Windows Update. You will need to identify your Make and model of Video card and download the latest driver. The first place to identify your Video card is to go to Start>Accessories>System Tools>System information. Expand the Components section and look at the display information. You are looking for information about the adaptor. This should tell you the Make and chipset information. Armed with this info, goto the manufacturers web site and look in the support section and look for the relevant drivers. You may well find that for older cards they supply a generic driver for many different models.

If you are having trouble finding the driver, post the adapter info here and We'll try to post a link to the driver for you.

Good luck.

From the list you posted, I am guessing that this is a video card that is integrated with the main board. Could you post your make and model of machine and Operating System or if a home built system the make and model of the mainboard. This should enable us to point you in the direction of a single location of all the drivers.

Meanwhile, for the video card if it is urgent click here to go to the Windows XP driver page for your Video card.
