You may have your browser set to not use plugins. What browser are you using?

No, Google is a search engine. Are you using Internet Explorer or Firefox or Google Chrome etc.

every time I want to go on line I click the icon of the eaarth with an arrow swooping round it & that takes me straight to basic GOOGLE -

If I click on the "launch internet browser " icon an "e" with a swoop around it , at the bottom left of my screen next to the windows "Start" icon that will take me to a YAHOO page - but I never use the yahoo. and Ive never heard of Firefox ?.
