I have been having problems on and off with my internet connection in India. The main problem was that when I wanted to go to a new page, Firefox just had in the status bar "Looking up... ??????????.com" and the page would hang there for a while or even time out.

I stumbled upon a great, free DNS service that allows is far more reliable and gives added features to your normal ISP's DNS service. All you need to do is sign up to Open DNS and change your DNS server settings to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.

Open DNS offers you phishing protection by blocking known phishing sites, it also gives you control over what site can and can't be accessed. This is great for parental control as you can stop adult sites, and you can also block individual sites you don't want accessible. And all this is done with no software installation! Another bonus is that you can enable stats, and see what sites are being accessed etc.

This has really speeded up my internet connection, and made it run much smoother. I am very impressed, and it is giving me extra features at no cost. I highly recommend it!

This looks like a great service. I like the way you can block adult sites.
