I've recently installed a GeForce 7600GS graphics card. Without going into too much detail, my computer more than meets the minimum requirements to use this card except that the PSU is a little under power at 350W rather than 400W+. Although everything works fine, in normal use, whenever I try to run a game with more demanding graphics requirements I get the dreaded blue screen of death. Can anyone out there please advise. I should be most grrateful.

I think you answered your own question there.

The PSU is probably to blame. When you are running games with the demanding graphics, the graphics card is working hard. In the same way a car pulling a heavy load will use more petrol, the graphics card working hard will require more power. As the load on the PSU increases, the PSU will give less reliable power to all the components and hence it will reach a point where the power to something is out of it's tolerance and it will fail to work. This can result in an unstable machine that may reboot, or give a BSoD.

My advice, is get a better PSU, and get a good one. Cheap ones are less reliable and can cause problems. I would recommend something like a Seasonic S12 PSU.

There is one other thing that could be causing this, and that is heat. Ensure there is sufficient airflow round the graphics card, and that the case is sufficiently ventilated.

I had massive problems with my PC a couple of years ago, it kept crashing and giving blue screens. That turned out to be the power supply. I didn't realise that was the problem and it finally blew. I went out and bought a Akasa PaxPower 460W and since then it's been rock solid. I think it cost about 60, but it was worth it. It's also coped easily with some upgrading I've done on the PC. I recommend this PSU, it did the job for me Mr. Green
