So, heres the story.
I was using my PC as normal. I went away and left the PC for about 30 minutes. So I come back, and carry on, and after about 2 minutes a message very briefly pops up. Something to do with my hard drive, thats all I saw. Then the PC just totally goes off. So I restarted it, thinking it was probably just a one off thing. Windows doesnt boot up whatsoever. The screen stays totally black. So I check all the cables are in properly on the back of the PC and everything appears to be normal. I switch it back on and after about 5 minutes I get a black screen and at the top it just says "Operating System Missing". Sad

Is there anyway that the pc could've just deleted windows from itself?
Or, is it more likely that my hard drive has just totally broken?

I appreciate any help that anyone can give.
The PC is a Dell XPS 720.
Running (was running lol) Windows Vista Home Premium. Smile

It sounds like something has happened and the hard drive has become corrupted, possibly failed. First make sure there are no disks in any drives. If this makes no difference then you may need to reinstall Windows.
