It would be helpful to know how you connect to the internet, and who your ISP is. For example if you are connecting to a dial up account via an very old modem, you wouldn't expect anything more, but if you are paying your cable operator for a 50Mbps service, you have a major problem!

I connect to my internet via broadband (its not a dial up modem). The speed is around 100 kbps but when I download something the downloading speed gets reduced to 10 kbps. kindly suggest something

I would contact your ISP that is reeeeeally slow for a broadband connection. They will be able to run some tests with you to see what's going on. These days you should expect around 2mbps for the slowest broadband connection.

Can you pls tell me what was the speed of the connection that you purchased (i.e. 1Mbps or 2Mbps etc) If the speed that you purchased was like around 100Kbps, then it is normal for download speed to be 10 kbps. This is because 100 Kbps (Kilo bits per second) = about 12.5 KBps (kilo bytes per second)
