Internet connection failure.

First Off - I'm new to this forum. I'm not very computer literate. I can navigate and use sparingly, but not fluent.
Question - Several months ago we started losing our internet connection intermittently. Service inquiries to our provided had us disconnect the wireless modem/router and reconnect to solve the problem. We assumed it was a bad modem and replaced it with a new wireless Motorola unit. It this same time our computer hard drive failed so we purchased a new E Machines computer. With all these changes, the problem persisted. Today we had the internet provider come to service and check out our system. He replaced all exterior cable ends and spliters. At the same time he checked the signal strength for all units throughout the house and said they were right at their mid point. We continue to have the problem even now. Originally, when the problem started, the connection loss could happen at any time. Now, with the new equipment, we lose internet connection everytime the computer is taken out of screen saver mode. We are running out of ideas and would appreciate any help or ideas anyone could provide. Please remember that I am at a very entry level ability and may not understand if relayed too technically. Hi Mark L, welcome to the forums! Smile

It would help for us to understand how you connect to the internet. Can you tell us who the service provider is, and what type of connection it is (cable, ADSL, dial up, etc)? Also how does your PC physically connect to the internet, is it a wireless connection or wired - if wired USB or Ethernet?

I think the answer to this one is that the wireless adaptor is powering down during the standby / screensvaer sessions and not waking up again
You need to change the settings in device manager to stop the adaptor from "sleeping", and if its a USB wireless adaptor the same with the USB root hubs
