The other day, my Lap Top (Advent T5550) decided that its hard drive was going to begin to die.
i get a message as the computer boots up, just after the memory test, saying "your hard drive is due for an imminent failure, please back up data press F1 to continue"
i did this, then Windows began to crash so i inserted the recovery DVD's that came with the machine and did a "destructive recovery" (format of the hard drive)
although windows now seems ok, apart from the message at the beginning and a window that appears every 10 minuets or so.
any thoughts on how to resolve this short of getting a new hard drive?
if i need a new one, whats the best place to get one? |

thats a "SMART" error warning. The drive IS going to fail. Believe it - those warnings are for real
I'd guess at it being a Toshiba drive?
As to where to get one - what country are you in? |
