I have no conncection on my main computer, but my laptop is working fine using the same modem. I don't know what the problem could be, as both computers have worked fine for quite some time.

I tried all of the troubleshooting (power-cycling, etc.) recommended, ran anti-virus and spybot, all to no avail.

My ISP is rather difficult to deal with, so I was hoping someone here would be able to shed some light on this issue before I call them.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Dan

It would help to know what modem you are using, what ISP and what version of Windows your PCs run.

My ISP is HughesNet (part of Galaxy Broadband), my modem is a direcway 7000, and both PC's are running XP.

Ok, this is a satellite modem, I'm not familiar with these, but will see what I can do.

Am I right in assuming you connect the PC to the modem directly by an ethernet cable?

Thanks, I appreciate it! And it is connected directly with an ethernet cable.

Satellite internet isn't the greatest, but it's my only option other than dial-up, since I live in a rural area Sad .

It's probably a case of getting the network settings right then. Can you post the IP Configuration Details for each computer when they are connected to the modem. Hopefully this will help identify the issue.
