When in MS Works Spreadsheet (Version 8.5 on Vista Home Premium) and a cell is selected and then Format - Number or Font or Alignment etc selected on the Toolbar to change the format then the application closes and the document is also sometimes lost. Anybody got experience of this problem?

I've heard of similar problems when trying to print or save with a HP printer installed. Do you have a HP printer?

It may be helpful if you can let us know the exact error message that comes up.

Hi Softstag,
Yes I do have an HP Printer Photosmart 4180. I have never printed this document but recently installed Vista with MS Works and then the printer a couple of weeks later. All the spreadsheet documents are new and close when selecting a cell and then any Format (eg Number) for the cell. There is no error message - the document just closes on selection of a Format.

Try setting the default printer to something else (i you have anything else in your Printers folder). If not, then try uninstalling the printer and see if this resolves the problem.

No problem. This may be resolved by installing the latest HP Printer drivers.
