A few weeks ago whilst online my computer crashed and then whenever i tried to boot it up it crashed as soon as it rached the welcome screen. I eventually had to restore it to its original settings.

For a couple of weeks now my computer has been crashing when i try to perfrom certain tasks:

-change screen saver
-play pc games such as sims
-try to video call

I have a feeling it is a problem with the graphics card maybe but i don't have a clue. Any one have any ideas what has happened?

Firstly, all the EA sims games crash in my experience.

But yes, it sounds like a GC issue. Check you have the correct drivers first of all.

Is the machine completely standard? No overclocking?

Thanks for fast reply!

I dont know what over clocking is unfortunatly Sorry.

I took it to someone the other day who performed lots of test all stating there was no issues and he measured temperatures etc but couldnt find an issue. He also did some cleaning inside the casing using compressed air.

I found the graphics card section through the control panel and it said it was working properly.

Any of this make sense?

Best option is prbably to borrow a GC off someone and see if that cures the problem. There might be some error events logged in the system event log but I doubt it. Usually a crash occurs before any kind of error can be logged but you never know. There might be some clue in there.

Type mmc in the run menu and add in the event viewer snap in to the mmc console.
