Hi when i open my documents in windows xp i get a search box i have to click search all the time to get my files i have tired a system restore that did not restore can u plz help me to change it back to just click and open

Can you post a screen shot of the search box you get. I'm not 100% sure what you are seeing.

OK, thanks for this.

When you right click on My Documents does it have Search in bold? Also, what happens if you click Open? does it give My Documents?

no search is not bold thats how it comes up when i click on my documents then i have to search to open that folder to see my music,pictures e.t.c

OK, try opening Notepad then copy and paste the following in to it:

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell]
@="none"

Save the file to your desktop as fix.reg, then double click the file from your Desktop - it should ask if you want to add this to the registry, say yes to this.

Does this sort it?

all i get is an error msg saying [cannot import c:\Document's and settings\scrapy\destop\fix.reg: The specified file is not a registry script.you can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor

You need to copy and paste everything within the code box - starting with Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

This should work as it is valid code.
