"We've had great preparation time.We've pulled together and jelled together."Maurice Greene, the Olympic 100 metre champion and world record holder, hopes to strike gold in both the 100 and 200.Fellow American Marion Jones hopes to become the first athlete to win gold in four events, the 100, 200, 400 and 4x400 relay.Not in Edmonton are American sprinter Michael Johnson and Australia's Cathy Freeman, the Olympic Cheap Nike Air Max 400 metre champion.Canada's best medal chances during the 10 days of competition ride with Mark Boswell in the high jump and Jason Tunks in the discus.Bailey, a double Olympic gold medallist and former world record holder in the 100, is competing with a torn meniscus in his left knee.He's angry over the criticism he's received in the media."You guys don't like success," he snapped. "If I was a 10 time Olympian who didn't get to the podium I would be a hero."That's why we don't have many podium people."Only the Summer Olympics and soccer's World Cup are considered bigger global sporting events than the world track and field championships.The Alberta capital, which likes to call itself the Nike Air Max city of champions, is buzzing with excitement over being the first North American city ever to host the competition.
