No power
Hi guys, I have just fitted my asrock 4coredual-sata2 motherboard into a new opera media case, but I don't have any power at all, the motherboard was fine when it was removed from my desktop and the case is new with a 500w pus, so it should work ok, I think all the connects are correct, the only one that I was dubious about was the 4p power plug, I did not connect that as it wasn't connected on my desktop, any help would be most grateful, thanks in advance. |

well the options are
1) the new PSU is dead
2) the power connectors are not plugged in correctly
3) something - e.g. the motherboard has been killed in the move
4) the new PSU is not powerful enough. 500W must be marginl for a 4-core CPU
can't say any more as you don't give the model of the motherboard. Given us the exact model number, and we should be able to say more |

presumably this http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=4COREDUAL-SATA2
or this http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=4COREDUAL-SATA2%20R2.0
In which case the images show 1x24 pin power connector and 1x4 pin connector (near the purple printer port connector)
You need both to be connected before the system will power up
Your comments suggest you've not fitted the 4-pin one. Fit it.
Also make sure that memory is correctly fitted, along with any add-in cards (eg graphics - make srue they are seated)
Finally just check you have the front panel power switches correctly wired up. If you've got them attached to the wrong terminals it won't go! |
