WMP11 has suddenly stopped recording or relaying any sound after ripping a disc to mp3. It plays previous files in the library with sound, so it can't be a hardware problem. There is also no sound when trying to play CDs in the disc drive. I've used various vesion of WMP and never had this problem. I'm baffled. Can anyone help?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I can play the same discs using Media Monkey so it's not the disc drive.

hard to really make a comment without seeing the machine, but I've seen similar problems after attempts were made to play or rip a copy protected CD. However its very unlikely, which is why I didn't mention it before

Try a system restore back to before it went wrong
If that works, try remembering which specific disks you've tried to rip or play since then. One of those may be the problem
