|Starting to learn Perl, but can't get scripts such as the hello program to work. The Active Perl Package Manager with Active Perl for Windows was downloaded and installed. Copied the “hello” program to the UltraEdit text editor, saved it as hello.pl in a folder called “perlscripts”.
From the Windows command prompt, “cmd”, and “enter” do not display the path to the file perlscripts located on the desktop to change to the directory to “C:\perlscripts>” .
When “hello.pl” is run from the command prompt, the message is “Windows cannot find hello.pl. Make sure you typed the file name correctly,..”
The interpreter was run withThe v-flag “Perl –v” to test the installation of Perl. The Windows command prompt window opens for less then a second. It cannot be read. Similar commands have the same result.
Would appreciate any advise or info,
