I suspect that there may be a problem in device manager that is causing the problems that you are having. I would suggest trying the following:
1) Boot up the computer in Safe Mode (keep pressing F8 during boot until you get a menu, select Safe Mode)
2) Open Device Manager (Right click My Computer (on desktop), click Properties, then click on the Device Manager tab at the top.
3) There should be an entry showing as "Unknown Device" or "Other Device". These need to be removed by highlighting and clicking Remove. OK any warnings that come up. Once removed close the Device Manager window.
4) Restart the computer and allow to go in to Windows normally
5) Plug in the device and check that it detects and works
Please let us know how you get on. _________________ Quality Rare Domain Names

hi, i tried and the HP 256MB thumbdrive still cannot work on my windows 98 computer.
I believe it requires the HP driver for it to work.....Any driver I can use to make it work? Thanks. |

There does not appear to be a driver specifically for that drive and Window 98. I would suspect that the nusb23e driver would work though. Virtually all flash drives are generic mass storage devices and should work. Looking on HP's website, they have no drivers for Windows XP suggesting it is a generic mass storage device.
It is a USB 2.0 device, I would suspect that it will be backwards compatible to USB 1.1 (pretty much everything is). I would see if you can get Windows 98 USB 2.0 drivers for your PC (assuming the PC supports USB 2.0).
Also, check to see if it is showing in Device Manager. If it is, then it could be that the drive needs to be formatted in FAT 32 before it can be recognised by Windows 98 (NTFS is not supported in Win 98 ). _________________ Quality Rare Domain Names
