hello, I need help with my mesh desktop computer. I have reinstalled window xp media centre edition2005 and have no audio drivers. the soundcard is built in on motherboard. what i can see there is only 'foxconn'. I have tried on meshcomputers website but nothing is there. I dont have enough information about pc. this is an old pc, got from someone. Now my pc is without sound. on the back of the pc I can only see a sticker with these numbers on it ; matrix premier SO_21149-001-S. I will be grateful if someone could help me. thank you

if its a Foxconn motherboard in there, somewhere on the board will be a model number
give us that and we can probably help. Without that, things become very difficult without manually inspecting the bpard to see what codec chip is installed

A8N-VM/S sounds more like an Asus board than a Foxconn one
If it is from Asus then the download page for XP is here
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=A8N-VM&SLanguage=en-us

where actually in the machine does it say "Foxconn"? Mesh use/used Foxconn cases and card readers. Most of their machines that I've repaired for them have had Asus motherboards. Is the motherboard labeled "Foxconn" or the case?

A8N-VM/S , this was exact on the floor of motherboard but 'foxconn' was written on the small silver box which is installed on the motherboard where you put the your external speakers microphone's pin in. My sytems is window xp media centre edition2005.

then I'm confused as the model number does not sound like one of Foxconn's, and also nothing with that name appears on the Foxconn website

when you say teh "small silver box" just how small?
Foxconn motehrboards often have "Foxconn" written on the southbridge heatsink, with is 2-3cm square, but other boards may well have smaller components from Foxonn - these would tyoically be less the 1cm square

does this look anything like youir board?

OK so its probably NOT a Foxconn board
Foxconn make those interface sockets for other board makers and you can see them on many different makes of board
I think its likely that your probably is an Asus similar to this one
Does the large black chip roughly cenre left have "nvidia" on it?
If so I reckon its close enough to try the sound rivers on that Asus link Iposted above

oh thank you very much. I have installed the drivers from the link you have posted above. It is fine with websites players ,cd,dvd and with the pc's original window sound but only one thing is different now that I do not have any audio control panel as it was last time I used to have a speaker icon at the right bottom of my desktop. Now there is an icon which is corssed and when pointed it, it says, "no soundmax audio present, you cannot used soundmax control panel". Otherwise everything is fine with sound so far. When I was installing the drivers I got messge on screen that, "Audio drivers installation failed,do you wish to continue the rest of the installation, yes or no". Then I clicked on yes to complete the installation.when asked for restart I did that and got message after restart that," DSNDUP error, No ADI codec driver is installed". well, now sound is ok .

does the computer have Windows XP service pack 2 installed?
If not, instal it as that may cure that pronlem - it installs the high definition sound features as part of the ipdate
