Have set the power options as " MY CUSTOM PLAN1 " viz:

back on say after a while (around 5 mins) & screen saver comes back on
again. This cycle goes on & on.......

02. TURN OFF DISPLAY - 10 mins
-display does not turn off

03. PUT COMPUTER TO SLEEP -1 hour
-does not go to sleep

ADVANCE POWER SETTINGS:
+ Multi Media
+ When sharing media
setting: " Allow the computer to sleep "

Also not able to put computer to sleep when togle the appropriate button Only thing can do is to either re-start or shut down computer.

COMPUTER MAKE / MODEL: HP Pavilion Elite m9398d PC
OS - Windows Vista Home Premium

Your urgent advise will be highly appreciated.

Hi Iqbal, welcome to the forums!

From what you describe it sounds like a background program is periodically doing something that resets the power saving timer, thus resetting the screensaver.

Try disabling background programs to see if you can isolate what is causing it.

Another possibility is the mouse - it could be that it is hyper sensitive and the slightest vibration is registering as a movement. Try unplugging the mouse and seeing if that makes any difference (only unplug USB mice when the computer is turned on).
