I am trying to download and install Freezip.exe onto Windows 7. I can download the file but when I double click to run it I get the message "An error occurred while copying the file Freezip.inf. Cannot copy file to destination directory. Click retry or cancel"
Retry just diplays the same message. Cancel asks if I want to continue set up without copying the file. If I say yes I then get a copy error message that reads "Set up cannot copy the file unzip.exe. Ensure that the location shown below is correct or change it and insert '(Unknown)' in the drive you specify. The location given is C:\Users\[myname]\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP003.TMP. If I open the containing folder the following files are listed:
advpack.dll 38kb
freezip.cdf 1kb
freezip.chm 39kb
freezip.ico 766b
freezip.inf 5kb
unzip.exe 156kb
W95Inf16.dll 2kb
W95inf32.dll 5kb.

If I then delete all these, it will do so all except for advpack.dll which it says is is still open in Win32 cabinet self extractor. Close the file and try again.

After two hours searching, I cannot find either file or how to close it. Can anyone help please?

Hi ap22, welcome to the forums.

I don't think that Freezip is compatible with Windows 7, hence the problems you are experiencing. I would recommend WinRAR or WinZIP for un/archiving files.

You should be able to delete those files after a reboot.

You could try 7zip an open-source compression utility compatible with windows 7.
