I tried the excellently written solution at the site:
http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/usbmsd98.php
My computer has AMD K6/233 processor
Bios Award V4.52PG also "plug & Play" Ultra 66 Bios V1.14.
Prior to the "solution" I was running licensed MS Windows 98 4.10.1998.
My USB card is OPTi83C861 PCI to USB
The installation of the "Unofficial Windows 98 Service Pack" downloaded from the above went perfectly.
I then followed instructions and removed all drivers for USB flash drives, unknown devices, and USB Controllers after downloading the file nusb320-Eng-98FE.exe to my desktop.
The problem occurs at the next step:
"Run the exe file you downloaded, and follow the instructions"
When I run the file the folowing happens:
Many files are "extracted" to the new folder "Uw98FE".
When the extraction window closes it is followed immediately by a "command promt syle" box titled "Finished - Start".
Inside this box is the message: "Out of Environment Space".
Shortly after that a window pops up titled "Advanced INF Install":
The error in this window reads:
"Error: could not locate INF File "\_nusb.inf"
How can I cure this and continue the installation, or what do I need to do to increase the "Environment Space"?
I appreaciate any help you can offer. The "Unoficial Service Pack" [Part 1 of the procedure] installed perfectly and is functioning just fine. _________________ James Woodruff |

Try deleting the nusb320-Eng-98FE.exe file and also the Uw98FE folder. Then download the nusb320-Eng-98FE.exe file again and try again. I think the original download may have been corrupt. _________________ "Microsoft programs are generally bug-free.
