Lately, when I tried to update AVG 8.0.176 I get the msg box:
"The update control file is missing"

I tried deleting the CTF file in C:\ProgramData\avg8\update\download (Win Vista) but it doesn't help. I get a "Invalid Update Control CTF File" from time to time and deleting the CTF file seems to work.

Thanks.

Simplest solution would probably be to completely remove AVG and then re-download and install it.

Is there a possibility that this would occur again with the re-installation?

You can't rule out the possibility that some other process is damaging the installation. Only one way to find out. Smile
