I have loads of pictures of my daughter from when she was born to about 3 years of age that I need to recover from my cock up!! Embarassed

What I did was try to add an application exe setup file to an open disc. I was asked if I wanted to format the disc as it needed to be formatted. I already had around 2.5GB of app's and photo's on the disc.

As the disc is a DVD-R I didn't think that confirming a format would hurt it, I couldn't figure out how else to get the file I wanted onto the disc, so I went with the format option - BAD IDEA!

Well, I've tried looking for recovery programs on the net but can only find free downloads that require a fee after you set up! Or programs that only recover files from HDD's.

I do have a couple of programs. One is called dvdisaster, it all went well, until I wanted to actually open the file it saved. The problem is that it saves the data from your damaged disc as a file type only recognisable by the program, so basically it's pretty useless!! Unless I'm missing something?

Trouble is I can't open the help for the program as it crashes every time I do, probably because I have Vista and this is an XP program, I think.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

There are several software programs out there for recovering files from corrupt CD/DVDs, however I think you have to pay for all of these. To be honest if the pictures are of value to you, you should consider paying for the software. There are also professional companies that can do this for you, obviously this will cost more, but you are more likely to get positive results.
