|
|
I have "deleted" the partitions on an old external hard drive using Disk Management. The disk now shows up as 2 sections: [b"]Unallocated" [/b]with 26 GB and "Free space" with 48 GB. I want to use this hard drive to store music files so therefor I want to maximize the storage space. Do I need to somehow combine these 2 partitions? _________________ Laurel |

so the "unallocated" is probably an unformatted partition you've not deleted
Delete it, then repartition and format as just one partition |

While waiting for a reply, I deleted the "Free space" partition and now the drive shows up as one partition of 74.53GB "Unallocated". Do you think it is ready for me to start copying the files onto it that I want to store? _________________ Laurel |

no - its telling you there ISN'T a useable partition there
You now need to create a new partition using all that space and format it
Until you do that you can't use it
what version of windows are you using, and just what software are you using to partition this drive? |
