sometimes my laptop shows a blank screen with fine lines across when starting up. I have to power off and restart seconds later and everything is normal again. This has occured since it is bought, But I thought nothing of it as it only occurs occassionaly. Now the "blank screen" occurs on average at least once a week.
Is that an indication of hardware about to fail?
Thanks

It sounds like a monitor test: the computer equivalent of a test pattern. They usually only appear when you change the resolution or something. If you're still under warranty, you should definitely have that checked; but make sure you make a copy or two of your files first

It's no monitor test, that's for sure
Before I send it for warranty, any clue of what the symtoms are?

It sounds like it could be a problem with the cable that connects the screen to the mainboard. If this happens as soon as you turn the computer on, then it is a hardware fault and I would suggest getting it repaired under warranty, but ensure you inform them that the problem is intermittent.
