Hi guys, would really appreciate some help with a major problem I'm having with my laptop (not this one). I've tried everything to fix it and my last hope of formating and reinstalling windows doesnt seem to work.
As i understand it, the way to reinstall windows (im using XP) is to go to the BIOS and get it to boot from the cd. When i do this, i get to the blue screen with 3 options which are to install windows, repair windows or quit. When I press enter for installation I get a message saying setup cannot continue because it cannot detect any hard drives. I find this really weird because BIOS does recognize the HD and I can still boot from it and get into windows like normal if i want to. Anyone know what else i can do?
By the way, for some reason I cant run any CD's once im inside windows, so i cant do it that way. Also system restore and the other error fixing tools dont work.

XP Setup will not detect your hard drive if it is a SATA hard drive. When the Setup starts you will need to press F6 when prompted at the bottom and then follow the prompt to install the hard disk controller drivers - this will need to be done from the floppy disk for the hard disk controllers.
