Hi.

I need to buy a USB cable for my DSL modem to connect to my laptop. Does it matter which type I buy?
Is 2.0 faster than 1.0 or is that in reference to something else?

Any brand recommendations? If I purchase online, any specific site you'd recommend?

In my experience there is not really any difference between USB 1.1 & USB 2.0 cables. It is just a way of manufacturers trying to charge more.

Thanks! I read on the 'review' section of Amazon that someone was mad that they accidently rec'd the 1.1 and not the 2.0 and the connection was now slower. So, I thought there was a difference I should know about. They're relatively inexpensive. At least, online they are. BestBuy charged me 36.00 for one that I saw online for only 7.00! Shocked

Some additional information can be found here Which basically echos what I was saying that there is no real difference for short distances.
