Vista "the system could not find the environment...

All started when start menu stopped working and had to go back to "classic" option.
Then the Norton stopped working. Uninstall not available.
Now if I try to open certain programmes the wording above pops up. Have tried using the Vista help maintenance but the links dont seem to work either!!
Is this a common problem?? How can I overcome it??

This is not a common issue. Try running a system restore to restore back to before the error started. If this doesn't work then it might be best to reinstall Windows.

Thanks for that. I made a diagnostics disc when I first set up the PC but the compouter won't open it up. System restore doesn't seem to work either. Are there any alternatives please???
The PC is approx 6 months old and Vista was pre loaded.

I think the only real option is to reinstall Windows. If you do not have a disk to do this with, then you should contact the vendor of the PC.
