I recently received an old Dell Inspiron 7000 laptop (5GB hard drive, 312MB memory) in perfect condition that foolishly has W XP Pro installed.
I want to format the hard drive and install W '98. I have a fresh W'98 disk.
There is nothing on the computer that I want to save.
Would someone please tell me the easiest way to proceed.

follow microsofts instructions as if the machine has no operating system
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/221829

specification for that machine is at http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/pcyc/specs.htm

drivers are at http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_PII_7000&os=W98&osl=en&catid=&impid=
