Hi there. I followed the directions posted on this site (http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/usbmsd98.php) in order to make my Windows 98 computer recognize my USB drive. The result was a catastrophe. I followed the directions to the letter and I am unable to boot my computer in normal mode. I have to use safe mode in order to see my desktop at all. At startup (in normal mode) the computer starts to load, then automatically restarts itself. It would go on forever if it could. Could someone please help me. I am desperate at this point. I am using a friend's computer at the moment. Thanks in advance.

Does the PC give any error before rebooting? How far does it get? Do you see the desktop before it reboots?

Hi there. No, there is no error message. And it never gets far enough for me to see the desktop. It just boots to a black screen, then restarts itself right away.

Please boot the computer in Safe Mode and do the following:
Arrow Click on Start, then Run
Arrow Type in msconfig and press Enter
Arrow Click on Selective startup
Arrow Remove the ticks from Process system.ini file and Process win.ini file
Arrow Click OK
Restart the computer normally, and see if it goes in to Windows.

Can you confirm that you installed nusb33e.exe on the English version of Windows 98SE?
